Our Entrepreneurship Program is designed for high school students who are interested in learning how to run a business through hands-on, real-world experience. Participants will take part in operating the concession stand during our summer basketball league, Virginia Hoop League, using it as a live, simulated business environment.
Students will be provided with a starting budget and guided through the fundamentals of business operations. From there, they will take on responsibility for key areas including staffing, scheduling, inventory management, setup, sales, expenses, and basic accounting. Throughout the program, participants will work toward specific milestones, make strategic decisions, and gain practical insight into what it takes to manage and grow a business.
The program concludes with an exit interview, where students reflect on their experience and development. Upon completion, each participant will receive a written evaluation along with a stipend in recognition of their effort and achievement.
